A Film Review of “Telenobela ni Juan at Luzviminda” and “Hanapbuhay”
(Comparison and Contrast)

Both short films were directed by well-known film makers such as Emerson Reyes and Henry Frejas. For complexity, I can say that Telenobela ni Juan at Luzviminda is far more complex than Hanapbuhay because it shows many symbolisms which are not easy to figure out. Unlike the first one, Hanapbuhay can be easily understood by ordinary people although it will lead you to a wrong expectation like what happened to me and most of classmates because it didn’t follow the mainstream format, A B C.

In terms of originality, both films were created based on trending social issues today and from the point of view of both film makers so I would say that both short films came with their own originality.

For coherence, Telenobela ni Juan at Luzviminda shows mainly graphic arts and as what I have mentioned earlier, these graphic arts also shows many symbolisms unlike Hanapbuhay which do not contain any. Both films can drive you emotionally because of its artistry and creativity.

All in all, both short films were good and are presented in a way that audience will love it and isn't boring. Director Emerson Reyes and director Henry Frejas deserves a round of applause for creating these appealing short films.
